Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures?

I’m planning on getting the starter kit for the 4th edition of D&D which contains some tokens. I also have a thing for minis. Which ones should I get? Please explain, I’m sure new to this.

Pieces that represent the player characters are a good start. If you G.M. Go to common monsters and then to favorites. It is always fun when a curious players spots the dragon figure behind the D.M. screen. Even if it is not going to be used. Check out web sites and hobby stores have instructionals on how to paint.
