Any tips for memorization for science? When I’m reading a science or science based textbook (psych major)?

and my eyes sometimes glaze over. It is more of an anatomy type book and you’d think just the general human body would peak my interest but not always…for example I just finished a test on vision which I found interesting (Ironically I failed that 17 minute 25 question test because my voiced activated dragon dictate software was acting up —any ideas on training words or building a custom vocabulary for scientific words? Anyway I need help because I don’t want to fail another test I’ll be toast in that class (which is required for psych majors) Have any of you tried the SQ3R method for reading a textbook? Is it good? (look it up) How long does it take you to recite your answers to boldfaced questions? How long does it take in general to go through a chapter and do all that work if you use this method? Any other methods used? Any advice from med students or science majors welcome…please and thank you.

Read intensely!

Then Make notes, your own notes, short concise bullet points in logical order (order that suits you)

Colour/highlight main words, use different colours for different topics/points.

Read over your notes, add any additional notes you think you’ve missed out.

Read, memorize points without looking, Read, Read. Draw as well if that helps.

And try to understand the topic too! lol. If you dont understand use other books, Internet, ask teachers, friends.

Biomed student.
And I take aaaages with one lecture!! soo annoying! though it’s weird when im all hyper or my exams are nearing I take much less time to memorize lol!
Chapters take me ages! like a whole day, I prefer to use lecture notes and look back at books if some point are not detailed enough.

mainly its just reading, memorizing, understanding game.
Its good to start revision early so when you look back second time it’s much easier.
