Dragon Software Digital Recorder
If you’ve used Dragon Naturally Speaking for voice to text applications, how well does it work?
(Did you use a headset or standard microphone computer?) And if you’ve used Sony’s Digital Voice Recorder with the software, does it work well when used at a distance from the speaker? Why would it or would it NOT be good for recording interviews?
Much thanks~
Dragon is one of the leading providers of dictation software. Microsoft is another contender in this market. Microsoft’s voice and speech recognition will be built into their operating system (called Vista). A good speech application based on Microsoft’s speech engine is e-Speaking.
But none of these systems would be good for recording interviews because they are all speaker dependent (i.e., the recognition that occurs is based on the computer’s understanding of the particular speaker’s speech patterns). In an interview, there may be more than one speaker and so the software would have a difficult time distinguishing between them to perform the recognition.
