Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon Movie Cast
I feel like Asians are overshadowed in Hollywood, how about you?
I feel as though Asians are extremely disregarded in the Entertainment industry. How many famous Asians can you think of? Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Chow Yun Fat, and the always recurrent cast from Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Im not racist or anything, Im just saying that movies have white familes, hispanic families, black families, but I’ve never seen a movie with an Asian family. When Asians are in movies, they are always portrayed as a nerd, loser, FOB, chess club member, Trekkie, or always the Martial Artist. I have noticed that asians have been getting more notice, like Brenda Song from Disney, or like that Asian guy in disturbia or Heroes. Im just wondering, whats your take on this?
I was reading this blog, and it said that this guys friend sent in a script to some producer. The producer replied, “Great storyline, but why is the main character Asian?
This is a very fair and legitimate question. But I can only see that as this nation becomes more of a diverse melting pot everyday (AKA our President is Black) we will start to see barriers be broken. In due time, Hollywood will also begin to bend to the fact that Asians (ESPECIALLY the males) are relevant, dynamic human beings who experience love, loss, failure and success that are worthy of an audience’s attention and command the same respect, awes and tears that any other character of another race receives.
